This gorgeous bay is a tombolo - the largest active sand tombolo in the UK. It is formed by wave action that comes from both sides in opposing directions and it's rather impressive. We didn't go onto the Isle itself, but there is a chapel, famous for its Pictish finds and continuous settlement since pre-Christian times. The dedication of the chapel to St Ninian, is not thought to be from the time of the founding of the chapel.
