Saligo Bay

Looking at photos of waves at Saligo I came across the work of Scottish artist Chris Bushe - love it - and decided to have a go at my own version...thanks for the inspiration!

Mad 'February' Hares.

A fantastic few minutes watching eight hares bouncing, running and boxing - on the way to the ferry first thing this morning...Oh well - role on six weeks time when we'll be back!

Jura from the ferry.

Waves and wigeon.

Rocky with yet another ball!

An atmospheric walk this morning!

Field Sketches

Two quick paintings from beyond Killinallen -

Sanaig and the raised beaches.

Given the forecast stole another good day! Spectacular seas and beautiful raised beaches. Damp underfoot but got quite a way round the coast. Another crab sandwich in the sun!

Beyond Killinallen again!

Another super day. The forecast was dry so off again up beyond Killinallen, to explore the remote coves, but this time coming back along the beach. Lots of flotsam and jetsam for Tom, crab sandwiches on the beach and two paintings done in the sunshine! Rocky enjoyed hurtling round following the scent of large numbers of red deer and is currently asleep in front of the fire. A good day!

White-tailed sea eagles on Jura

Caught the ferry, as foot passengers, across to Jura. Walked south along the beaches - highlights were really good views of a pair of white-tailed sea eagles  a really close view of an otter.

Sea urchins on the pier at Port Askaig; lichens and a damp feather!

Spectacular Saligo!

A really big sea today - all frothy and shiny white - like raw meringue!

Ardnave point.

Another lovely walk around Ardnave Point - the scenery speaks for itself.

Sunday 15 February 2015

Killinallen and well beyond.

A super sunny but fresh morning with great views. The last hour of the afternoon was a tad cold and wet but 16 miles in mainly sunshine, with a picnic on the beach - not a bad start to a holiday.

Islay bound.

A lovely atmospheric journey and calm crossing.
Over the Rest and be Thankful; Inveraray: Gigha : Islay from the sound of Jura
and into Port Askaig.

Tarbert - nets and buoys.
