Cadgwith

Following on from the previous blog ...we dropped down into Cadgwith and returned round to Lizard Point. Lovely to see choughs.

Classic cottages ...and below...

The fishing boats were in, with one being winched up the beach on driftwood rollers.

Looking back towards Coverack and Kennack Sands in the far distance.

Very sketchable rocks!

Returning to Lizard Point.

Choughs in the field next to the carpark.

Lizard point to Kynance and Lizard Downs

With a good forecast we set off to Zoar in the hope that rumours of an imminent diesel delivery were true ...they were, so with relief it was down to Lizard Point to walk around to Kynance and across to Cadgwith and back round to Lizard Point. Spectacular views in a bright light with a stiff breeze. Another blog follows.

Off Lizard Point.

Towards Kynance.

Towards Kynance...

The first of what will probaby be one of many wave photos!

Lizard Downs - still colourful.

The rare field gentian - nice to see.

There were lots of speckled woods....

Crossing towards Cadgwith.

The ever present black bryony berries....

Coverack to Kennack Sands

Still restricted to walking from the static as no diesel available, we decided to walk towards Kennack Sands - with a 98% chance of rain and force 7 winds - what could possibly go wrong! A lengthy walk - 12 miles, which doesn't sound much but the weather and the muddy footpath made it hard work. Enjoyable in a sadistic kind of way! Not many photographs as it was too wet! The highlight was the fabulous burger with onion jam etc at the beach cafe at Kennack Sands - much needed and lucky that we arrived just 5 minutes before they shut.

The new heathland growth in the burnt area was spectacular...

Porthoustock to Flushing

A rather long walk starting at Porthoustock and across to Porthallow, before following the coast to Flushing - lots of up and down and a footpath diversion. We decided to cut back across the headland between Flushing and Porthallow rather than returning via the coast! Lots of red admirals and speckled wood butterflies and some spectacular rocks at Porthallow.

Looking back to Porthoustock...

From Gillian harbour towards Flushing.

Red admirals wit hlots of ivy bees that didn't sit still long enough for a photo!

A last blast of summer ...

Porthallow - looking along the coastal footpath.

At Porthallow - some very pretty rocks - see below!
