Sanday ....

Day 3 and off to Sanday. Our alarm (the dog) slept in, so a rush to Kirkwall where parking was limited as they are re-doing the harbour frontage - so a stressful start, but then a cracking ferry journey - sparkling sunshine all the way.

We'd gone as foot-passengers and the plan was to walk from Spurness as far as we could towards the chambered cairn at Quoyness. Fortunately, we were offered, and accepted, a lift for the last few miles otherwise we wouldn't have made it! 

Coming back across the beaches the light was stunning....and we caught the last ferry home after rather a brisk 19.5 mile walk! Note to self - next time take the car! 

Fish and Chips from the Happy Haddock in Kirkwall and a spectacular sunset end completed the day.
