Holkham

A reasonably early start to beat the crowds at Holkham. A walk out onto the beach - where people with scopes had Red-necked; Slavonian and Great-crested Grebes and Long-tailed Duck at sea - we had Grebe shaped dots with our binoculars! ..and to be honest that was only because we knew they were Grebes. Nice Sanderling though. Back along the beach and into the sandunes with fabulous lichen heath, then back through the woods. Good Marsh Harrier views. There have been a couple of really nice little trails created through the reed beds which were just an atmospheric joy.

A misty start ...Rocky went bonkers - running everywhere to play with all the labradors and spaniels.

Redshank.

Sanderling.

Carline thistle.

Lichen heath and below...

Plenty of Scot's Pine cones...they'd rolled down the hill.

Pine woods.

Reeds.

Plenty of Wigeon.

The trail through the reeds.

Many reeds ...
