Poking about...so many species!

The asfternoon was spent poking around an old limestone quarry near Vyeronia and then at Lythotopos. Target birds were the Rock Nuthatch and Blue Rock Thrush - both of which we saw. These were excellent sites yielding a lot of interesting species - so here are the pictures.

Balkan Lizard Orchid - so spectacular.

Southern White Admiral.

...and from underneath.

...and side on.

A predatory Bush Cricket.

Blue Rock Thrush.

Whilst looking at the Golden Drops (above) ....look what wandered across the path! (Below)

And zooming in....

A ladybird Spider - stunning!

Eresus sandaliatus

Knapweed Fritillary.

Lesser Spotted-fritillary.

Oriental Marbled Skipper.

Cardinal.

Sinuated Spoonwing,  Spoonwing Lacewing, Thread-winged Antlion....all the same.

Spotted Fritillary.

Black-veined White.

A distant Eagle Owl....

With three chicks.

..and I nearly forgot the Little Owl.
What a place!
