Geltsdale RSPB reserve

A very pleasant wander around part of this reserve near Hallbankgate in North Cumbria. Not a vast amount to see as it is still quite early, but lovely to see and hear the peewits displaying.

Peewit / lapwing

Lots of coltsfoot - incredibly bright light!

Beautiful clear water...

Nice to see three peacock butterflies - two of which were spiralling up and down together.

A lovely textural tree.

Clockwise from top left: Rhizocarpon geographicum; Porpidia sp; Parmelia saxatilis and Xanthoria parietina.
