More experimenting with taking impressions in clay and then using plaster of Paris to make a cast. So far improvements have included realising if you have a stem in the impression that goes under the frame ...it will channel the plaster of Paris, but not for far; clay can be smeared up the sides of any joints in the frame to stop it leaking; mixing PVA into the plaster makes it less delicate. After taking the cast and letting it dry fully, I coated it with 50:50 PVA: water mix - this seemed to be the best surface to paint on in acrylic. Painting isn't going to be easy and may require a few layers - we'll find out tomorrow!
