...our annual pilgrimage to see the rich flora of the upper dale. We parked up at Hanginshaw and then down through Knott Hill to the banks of the Tees. As always splendid views and we hit the right weekend for the spring gentians. The fields weren't as yellow as usual with marsh marigold - but they were there in abundance. Presumably it's not so lush as usual, because of the dry spring. The gentians were less abundant than usual - maybe because of last year's hot summer. The mountain pansies though were prolific and in good condition. The population of alpine bartsia continues to thrive.
