Cotton Grass carpets

A quick visit to our local Nature Reserve - Wedholme Flow - the Cotton Grass is splendid!

It's all a bit dry!

Cottongrass.

The tiny bird in the middle of the picture is a Temminck's Stint.

More Cottongrass....

Still dry...

Cottongrass.

Across to Skiddaw.

Limestone Ferns

Finally a chance to finish off this textile piece - a mixture of hand dyed fabrics, silk painting and batik techniques, gelli printing, fabric photos, patchwork, quilting and machine embroidery.

Piecing my fabrics ...

The end result...details below.

Into the garden

Returning home, it was straight into the garden to catch up on what needed doing. We have been trying to make inroads into what has been neglected over the last few years, while we have been working and these are the reuslts so far....I haven't photographed the rest as it has rather a large proportion of Ground Elder, Nettles and Creeping Buttercup! Withe a dry spring it has been lovely to see so many insects in the garden - it's positively humming.

Camping on Islay

Just a few photos of daily life ...particularly of Rocky who had a fabulous time!

Port Mor campsite.

Curry for tea...the campsite has a freezer so we took some home cooking with us - and a microwave made it very
Snoozing...

Zonked....

Knackered!

A new toy.

Cooling off.

I've seen rabbits!

Back at the ranch....

And a final breakfast before heading home.

Hares on Islay

I always love photographing Hares...

RSPB Gruinart

We popped into the hides on a regular basis. Highlights included seeing Ruff and both Golden and White-tailed Eagles in the same view.

View from the hide.

Swallow - which was nesting above the hide window.

Snipe and below.

Lapwing chick and below.

A heron...

..that wasn't that popular with the Black-headed Gull.

One of quite a few rabbits....

..and a very interested dog!
