South Shetland: Quendale and Hoswick

A 'bitty' day with a number of stops ...

Daisy Field.

Yellow-flag Iris is just coming out - spot the 'Shetland Bumble Bee' (Bombus muscorum agricolae) - which is actaully a Carder Bee.

The Shetland Bumble is an endemic species.

Hoswick - notable for it's very good tea shop!

In Hoswick a public path runs up the beck which hosts a strange mix of native and introduced species of plant, providing some shelter for birdlife. Good to hear a Quail in a nearby field.

Hoverflies: the first a specialist Red Campion feeder and the second a Bumble Bee mimic.

Nice light through the Bog Bean.
