Finglandrigg marsh fritillaries

A very quick visit to Finglandrigg NNR yesterday evening after work. The sun was dipping and shadows were long, so photography wasn't easy. A few marsh fritillaries were out, but invariably they landed either under blades of grass or in the shade ....finally a few decent shots!

Red campion; cow parsley; heath spotted and northern marsh orchids.

Buttercup meadow: heathland: ragged robin and green-veined white; wall brown and hay rattle.

Marsh fritillaries in awkward positions!
Marsh fritillary......
Marsh fritillary.
