Yewbarrow with the dog...

What a fabulous little mountain this is! We parked up at the National Trust car park (£2 donation) at Overbeck Bridge and then straight up the fell and followed the path up the left hand side of the fence up to Dropping Crag. A good path with some nice little scrambly bits onto the ridge and along to the summit. Fantastic views - Scafell summit remained under cloud, but Great Gable was clear all day. The descent off the end of Yewbarrow down Stirrup crag was fun - and Rocky managed fine - although we had to make sure he didn't just hurtle off the end!  Then down to Dore Head and a 'damp' path back to the carpark. This was a Wainwright we hadn't been looking forward to as it looked a slog, but in retrospect it was great and the scrambling down Stirrup crag was so good we'll be doing it again!

Cracking views down Wastwater and across to the Scafells.

The summit of Yewbarrow.

Great waterfalls ...a damp descent.

Herdies and Rocky really would like to do the round walk again!

Fantastic walls and Herdies ... I just love Wasdale!
