Armboth Fell and Fisher Crag

A short walk out for Rocky's 148th Wainwright - Armboth Fell. Not a particularly sunny day but good views across Thirlmere. Boggy underfoot which was to be expected given we were near the quagmire that runs from High Tove to High Seat.

The route started at the Armboth carpark and we followed the signed route to Watendlath until we reached the ridge looking across to the summit of High Tove. We then skirted the boggy area onto Armboth Fell before dropping down to Fisher Crag. The gate has been stapled shut and a new fence erected, so there was no recognised or dog-friendly access to the spectacular views over Thirlmere. From the gate onto Fisher Crag we followed the fence north which brought us down to a new forestry track  that would have taken us straight down to the road ....we did a slight detour via a packhorse bridge onto the older footpath mentioned in other walks, that brought us back to the start.

The ridge ...looking in the direction of Borrowdale...

Armboth Summit.

Towards High Seat.

Nice lichen textures.

Boggy underfoot....nice rocks though!

Frogspawn.

The bothy - the wood fire inside was still warm...
