Senhouse Roman Museum, Maryport

On Saturday we went to Maryport. We'd never been to the Senhouse museum and it was well worth the visit. Based on the site of the original fort it houses, amongst other artefacts,  a spectacular collection of Roman alters. The skill in the carving of inscriptions is clearly evident.

Some of the annual alters dedicated, primarily, to Jupiter.
