False Oxlip (Primula vulgaris x veris)

Tom has been down on the Wellrash road, where there are some spectacular primulas, including a large number of naturally hybridised false oxlip, a cross between the primrose and cowslip, found where the parent plants are found in close proximity.

Primrose (Primula vulgaris), false oxlip (P. vulgaris X P. polyantha), false oxlip (P. vulgaris X P. polyantha) and cowslip (P. polyantha).

False oxlip (P. vulgaris X P. polyantha) with more a distinct primrose colour, and flower size, though hang on a stalk like a cowslip.

False oxlip (P. vulgaris X P. polyantha) with a more cowslip-like colour, though far larger than cowslip.
