Limestone: Lockdown 15

What a fabulous walk out! We'll definitely be doing this one regularly to see how it changes - quite remarkably beautiful and it's only taken 20 odd years to find it! So today's dog walk focus ended up being limestone - for the photo collage, with two field sketches done in situ for the diary. There were three lime kilns on the walk the first of which was particularly well preserved.

Skiddaw and Binsey.

Calcite crystals, some unknown blobby algal type thing; gigantoproductus fossil in the wall and a luxuriant liverwort in the limekiln.

The valley you walk along is a glacial channel.

Signs of spring.

Patterns in the beck.
