Haweswater round walk

The forecast was poor for the tops today, so we decided to do a walk we had been meaning to do for ages - a circular walk around Haweswater. It was 11.6 miles and enabled us to really enjoy the autumn colours. The very cold and prolonged hail showers were less enjoyable, but provided some dramatic light! It's amazing how different the colours were going down the lake (I know technically it's a reservoir, but I'm calling it a lake), with the 'sun' behind as as opposed to looking back up the lake, where it looked very wintery.

We parked at the far end and walked down towards Naddlegate where you cross the Haweswater Beck before returning to  Mardale Head. Sadly you aren't allowed to walk across the dam.

.... and looking back up the lake ... a more wintery feel....
