As well as a spectacular show of orchids at Denbies Hillside, Surrey Hills, there were plenty of butterflies on the wing. The site is well known for adonis and chalkhill blues, although I may have been a bit early for them. Alas, the site provided a good show of species.

| Large skipper, lace border (a nationally scarce A and declining species of moth of chalk grassland), green hair-streak and speckled wood. |

| A large hornet-mimic hoverfly and a five-spot burnet. |

| A white-legged damselfly (new to me) and a male beautiful demoiselle. |
