It's amazing how many steps there are in a lino cut!
Hi - hope you enjoy my blog - it's mainly a day to day, as and when diary, but all cards and pictures etc that I put up are for sale. Search for me on Facebook at Julia Garner Arts.

Lino printing onto computer print out.
The lino cuts that I have been doing recently have been directly printed onto an acrylic under-painting which takes time but also the acrylic slightly repels the lino ink....however if you scan the painting in - print off a copy and then print onto that it means you can do multiple copies - and the print is far clearer!

Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Glasgow trip.
A lovely day with my parents in Glasgow. Enjoyed 'The Lighthouse' and particularly the black and white photos of Glasgow's industrial past. A wide range of architecture and the Glasgow School of Art was well worth a visit. Personally my favourite two photos were though, of Darth Vada playing the accordian and the contrast of a side street just off the main shopping area.

Smardale Ghyll mono print and Solway painting.
Enjoyed doing the mono print - areas for improvement I know, but it's the process that I really enjoy.

Farfield Mill and Limestone pavements at Southerscales
A lovely day - first a visit to Farfield Mill and then onto Yorkshire Wildlife Trust's Southerscales Nature Reserve at the base of Ingleborough. Still distinctly wintery.
Three felt pieces from the 'Felt through Contact' exhibition which is just closing and a fantastic 'Stone Quilt' |

Missing Islay!
As the family head up to Islay again and I crack the whip on A level revision; I've had to satisfy myself with a painting (36 x 28 inches) - from the coast near Lossit across to Jura. See February's Blog 'Higland Cattle and Otters'!

Spring may have arrived!
A damp dog walk but the Spring flowers have suddenly blossomed - finally took photos of the willows as want to do some art work bases on them; maybe a lino print.
