Parton - Codd bottle marbles

So our first trip of this autumn/winter to Parton - mainly because we got up too late to get a parking space anywhere in the Lakes and after yesterday's rain everywhere would be sodden. The light was lovely and it was actually nice and warm - makes a difference as we usually go when it's blowing a hoolie!

Across to Criffel.

Nice to see four yachts out today.

Foraging....

There's something so exciting abut finding a marble or two!

Parton

After visiting the Senhouse Roman museum on Saturday, we went down to Parton; nothing spectacular but two marbles and a Victorian jack.

A dreich morning!

Oystercatchers...

Blue slag.

A jack and two codd bottle marbles.

Gulls at Parton

Given the weather this was an unexpectedly rewarding walk, it certainly blew away any cobwebs! The tide was just on its way out and the gulls were enjoying  the wind and waves. The light was superb, so I should have stayed and focussed on  the photography, but marble hunting beckoned - it was a two marble day! Click here for more marbles....

So here's a selection of pics...

Parton beach finds

With friends staying and a poor forecast, it was a walk out along the beach at Parton. It was a two marble day - marbles from codd bottles, with lots of bits of glass, pottery etc. A nice calamites pith cast was the highlight of the day.
