Collagraph rock-pools

An afternoon playing around with collagraph....

The plate before covering with foil.

Covering in foil...

All pressed down and sealed.

The plate after printing ...and below - it always looks better than the print!

The prints ...and below - with the last one hand coloured.

Allonby again ....with a Roman find!

With friends up for a holiday and not the best of weather, it was off to the beach. We explained that it was possible to find Roman fishing weights and described them where upon one was immediately presented! (Not by me either - bugger!) Thanks to Matt for the photos.

Bog reflections

While at Drumburgh yesterday the rushes when reflected, made some interesting shapes.

Senhouse Museum, Maryport and Percy Kelly

This little museum is always worth a visit ....and it was lovely to see some of Percy Kelly's sketches too. Oh to be able to draw like that!

Lakes Society of Artists exhibition - Rheged

This is always a good exhibition - I just took photos of pictures that made me go 'wow', in attempt to see what direction I would like my own artwork to go in ...

Vivienne Pooley's Gable from Lingmell....

Ben McLeod's Storm Clouds over the Estaury 1.

Tracy Levine's Snow on the Fells above Windermere.

.... and the conclusion? I like big skies and mountains (no suprise there) and I would like to be looser and more expressive in my work ...maybe that should be my New Year's resolution!

Now I need to go back to Rheged to look at the Great Print 7 exhibition ...and that will fire off more ideas ...

Round Ennerdale - in the fog

Although it was foggy, when it cleared briefly the views were spectacular!

The classic view looking down the lake.

Reflections.

Winter colours.

This doesn't do the beries nad twigs justice, but they were bejewelled with droplets.

...and some classic views....

Herdies.

Sunlight at the far end of the lake.

...and the last views, before the fog rolled in again.
