Poldhu to Porthleven

A good walk out today! We had intended to walk from Poldhu to Porthleven along Loe Bar and Porthleven Sands...the only trouble was that the coastal path from Loe Bar to Porthleven is closed as the cliff has collapsed and the redirected footpath is rather a tortuous route to say the least! The pastie in Porthleven was worth it, but at 16 miles rather than 10 it was rather a long day! Loe bar is currently undergoing works too, as the pipe that takes water under the bar was damaged by winter storms and the EA are having to carry out pumping and repairs to protect the freshwater lake. The diversion along the edge of The Loe was good and popular ...past Penrose (National Trust) and then down a narrow road into Porthleven.

Always good for a wander around - this time very tame turnstone and a glaucous gull.

Mousehole to Lamorna circular walk.

We looked at the forecast carefully today and then decided to head off down south a bit, so that we missed the predicted 2 hour rain slot at lunch time ....and it worked! A glorious day that turned back to drizzle as we came back north again. The sea was spectacular to say the least! Lovely rocks and views. The paths were muddy - definitely a wellies day! We went along the coastal footpath - excellent chips at Lamorna, then back across the top through the fields....then off to Newlyn for a pasty!

Just loved seeing this bee, mid season in Cornwall and yet to come out in Cumbria.

Whist walking along the coast we came across the Marconi monument.....the plaques on it save me typing out the information! 

Predannack Wollas to Poldhu then Mullion and Predannack.

A reasonable forecast so back to Predannack Wollas and the National Trust car park ( only £1 for the day). A lovely walk along the cliff top to Mullion Cove - soe rather boggy bits, but cracking views although it was grey and cold. Stopped at mullion cove for a field sketch, felt like rain, then onto Poldhu....and the beach cafe. The sun came out and the greys turned into vivid blues. The beach cafe is as good as the reviews say! Then we went back via Mullion and then the straight path from Mullion to Predannack Manor Farm and the car park. Ths was a good little path cutting off a lot of miles. We stopped at the mediaeval cross which is apparently a way marker.
