Snowy drifts, Icy grass and Rimed wires...

At the top of our hill there was some beautiful snow and ice.....wind blown and shiny.

Round the block

A snowy walk from the house...and what a glorious light!

Looking into Central Lakes with Skiddaw on the left and Binsey on the right.

Zooming in....

Looking towards Criffel.

Quality sledging

A good view sessions - Rocky was rather over enthusiastic! Both sledges worked well, but the good old fashioned wooden one gave a much smoother and less back-twinging run...

..and in another field and into the dark!

A sledging walk

Winter and the snow have arrived; a day sledging was in order! First the walk's photos....

Leighton Moss

A trip down to Leighton Moss on a gloriously sunny day, which was welcome after the stormy weather of the last few days. We did stay for the murmuration, but it was very quick, small and not visible from the Sky Tower where we were. Nice to watch late afternoon turn into evening though ...

Red deer grazing in the sun.

Bullfinch, Nuthatch, Siskin, Robin and Grey Squirrel.

Not an easy light for photgraphy as it was so bright - Snipe with Teal.

Snipe and below...

Great White Egret.

Plenty of Coot.

Pied Wagtail on the ice.

Teal.
...and then lots of long-distance shots of Marsh Harriers...

Frosty....

Siskin feeding way up in the Alders.

Evening light.

The Wedholme Year

Yesterday we went down ot Wedholme Flow - nothing particularly different, so no photographs. Instead a chance to look back at the Wedholme highlights from last year and to see how the moss changed throughout the year....

The scenery...

Plants ...and an Adder.

Something more abstract...

Fungi and lichens.

Birds - notaby the Red-footed Falcon (top left in the tree) and Little Stint (upper middle) .

Dragonflies, Damselflies, Tiger-beetle and hoverfly.

..and butterflies...a reminder of summer- although last year butterflies were few and far between.
