Malltraeth Marsh, Cors Ddyga RSPB reserve

Being we were going past the entrance on our return from Newborough Warren earlier in the day we took a quick look around this reserve - slightly constrained as dogs aren't allowed on it, but there is a good lane down the eastern boundary and then we split up so I walked back through the reserve while the dog didn't. Good reed beds, with bittern and marsh harrier - nothing showing but a pleasant enough walk out.

The track alongside the edge of the reserve.

The reserve.

Berw colliery: the chimney was installed for the steam engine and to ventilate the mine; the mine wasn't worked much after  1868 and is a scheduled ancient monument.

Holly blue.

Southern Hawker.
