Tom's Port Ellen geological excursion!

We bought a copy of 'A guide to the Geology of Islay': Webster, Anderton and Skelton- a really clear and informative book. So now we know what the key features of our walk were - see the captions below the pictures.

The left hand picture shows blades and the right hand picture shows a rosette of kyanite in a thin metamudstone interbed near the top of the Jura quartzite.
