Megalichthys (Carboniferous fish) Lino-cut Print.

On identifying a Megalichthys fish scale in the local coal measures, Tom decided to do a linocut of a reconstruction of the fish and its habitat. He plans to do two more prints based on other fish from the Late Carboniferous in a similar style. I was well impressed!

A Megalichthys scale.
Some of the plants fossils found in the shale with the scale. Left: Lepidodendron lycopoides & right: Calamites suckowi.

Based on reconstructions online and the fossils Tom found, he designed a rough plan of the piece.

A rough design.
The cut lino-block inked up.
The final print.
