Buttermere in reverse!

We are aiming to walk around Buttermere once every month and normally park in Buttermere village and proceed in a clockwise direction - however the footpath along the shore by the 'lonely tree' was shut to protect nesting sandpipers, so rather than walk back into the village we walked round the lake in the opposite direction to usual - as did everyone else as we didn't encounter anyone going in the opposite direction. Good to hear two different cuckoos calling at the same time; clearly in different woods. The hawthorn flowers are spectacular and the walk is taking on a whole different feel from the winter months! Lots of blue patches - bluebells - on the hillsides indicating where woodland would have once been.

The river between Buttermere and Crummock was quite low: Scale Force was hardly a Force! ..nice bluebells in the woods.

Reflections........

Bluebells below the path up Haystacks.

Bog beacon fungus.

Views.......

Herdies and lambs.

Just cute!
