Selside and Branstree

A gorgeous walk today, although the weather forecast got it completely wrong! We parked up at High Loup on the side of Haweswater and walked up the corpse road until it began to descend into Swindale. Here we took a right-hand turn up onto Selside Fell and then onto Branstree. We then descended off Branstree down to Hopgill beck and Rowantreethwaite Beck - a steep and hidden path overgrown by bracken and slippy in the rain. I always say you don't get dramatic light without rain and sunshine!

The view on arrival - fab!

A steep ascent up the corpse road - up to a cairn where Rocky thought he needed to pose for a Wainwright
....but it wasn't!

A superb light ...prior to the rain!

A lovely light through the bog asphodel.

The summit of Selside in the rain.

Rainbow over Haweswater.

Not happy in the rain - Branstree.

Descending ...

Rowantreethwaite Beck from the road.
