Praa Sands to Porthleven

An envigorating walk along the coast - Wheal Prosper and Wheal Trewavas were spectacular. The weather: drizzle driven by a gale ...so once again not many photos to edit! On arrival at Porthleven we decided to catch the bus back to the Porthleven crossroads and walk down into the village rather than returning along the coastal footpath - a good decision!

The back of the beach at Praa Sands is dangerously close to the properties with garden fences falling off the edge, but the cliff does exhibit the most complete Quaternary sequence in Western Cornwall ....for more info click here - this site gives detailed information on the walk and the geology - sadly the weather wasn't good enough to really take notice - it was head down and onward.

Quaternary exposures at the back of the beach.

Praa Sands .... erosion.

Wheal Prosper.... of Poldark fame.

Wheal Trewavas....and below.

Granite intrusions.

Porthleven - without the waves coming over the end, but spectacular nonetheless.
