Carrock Fell

Another glorious autumn day and another glorious walk - this time up our local fell. Great light, so I can feel a painting coming on!

Handwoven Scarf

This was a new venture for me entirely.. and what a nice calming activity weaving is. I'd been leant a table top loom, by a very good friend and she kindly helped me warp up, before I took it home to start weaving. Luckily, I had a set of really nice coloured wools from Orkney that I had bought for tapestry weaving, so I was able to use those up.... and it meant it's a scarf I will wear.

Warping up in the kitchen..

High Pike

A quick afternoon walk up High Pike - it started off fine, but then some fairly damp drizzle came in - good to see that the White Worm  Lichen, Thamnolia vermicularis is doing so well - it looks as if it has spread quite a bit this year!

Incoming damp!

Northern Ireland dash...

Well that's Tom off to Northern Ireland to do a PhD at the Coleraine campus of Ulster Uni ...a very quick trip to deliver his belongings, but a beautiful drive back...we'll be back for holidays!

Ailsa Craig from the ferry.

The fuschia hedges were stunning - memories of previous trips many moons ago!

Fabulous basalt! The Giant's causeway was heaving as we drove past, so we didn't stop.

Plenty to explore...
