Mawbray with Rocky

A really fresh walk! So pleased that Rocky had a good walk out, the first time in several weeks, since he got Vestibular disease - or Old Dog's vertigo. Travelling was fine and he clearly enjoyed himself. Lots of Oystercatchers, with a good smattering of the usual Sanderling, Golden Plover, Curlew, Turnstone, Dunlin etc.

Back on the beach.

It looked cold and it was cold!

Happiness is...

A 'slick' of Oystercatchers in the middle distance....

Tightly packed...

Heads tucked in.

Golden Plover - and below.

Sanderling and below..

Along the coast...

Cracking patterns!

An otter's adventure

This large pup made the correct decision - crossing the whole pond while continually falling through the ice and having to haul itself up, would have been a bit too much!

Otter on the ice

A New Year's trip to Leighton Moss. With the cold weather we knew it would be largely frozen over, but it was such a nice day to be out. The highlight had to be the Otter that we were able to watch, walking on the ice, falling through the ice and carefully weighing up the pros and cons of its adventure!

Greenfinches, Marsh Tit, Robin and Blue Tit.

Icey...

Reeds in the sun.

The usual collection of duck species.

What a couple of minutes - watching an otter on and in the ice. (More photos -next blog.)

And as the light began to fade...

Siskin and Redwing.
