Crafts of the North - Keswick

Well that's me all set up in Keswick for the next four days (10 - 4:30). I am part of a group who hire the Congregational Hall every week  - we choose which weeks we wish to work ...so I shall be working painting, making cards and sewing while I am there...I just wish it wasn't such a glorious day with snow on the tops!

Preparing to paint...

...and there are plenty of other stalls ...

Mawbray ....Oystercatchers and Curlew

While walking with Rowan on the beach I did manage a few other photographs...while taking the utmost care, unlike other dog owners, not to disturb the birds.

Criffel with a fringing of Oystercatchers on the southern side.

Incoming ....

Landed ...

Curlew ...and below ...

..and another flypast.

A hilarious walk on the beach with Molly's Aussie Shepherd pup - he love's the sea, beach and all dogs.

Wigton murmurations

What a wildlife spectacular! If you can, get to Wigton just before dusk ...park at Barton Laws just opposite the factory.

Souther Fell

A typical winter's day and a very pleasant walk up Souther Fell from Mungrisedale. Following the road going to the left of the Mill Inn and taking the diagonal rather than vertical path, a steady path leads to the saddle where we walked to the left  - to the far end, overlooking Clough Head and the Dodds, before walking the length of the ridge and to the summit.  The path then descends directly above the Mill Inn, but there is no route through the intake fields, so you skirt the wall back to the road and then double back to the start. Super views of Blencathra in her wintery cloak - no sign of any ghostly armies today! Click here for information on the ghost army.

From the Souther Fell ridge - people on the top of Blencathra.

Not the top but an un-named cairn.

A rare picture!

Looking over Great Mell Fell.

Blencathra again...

Bannerdale Crags infront of Blencathra.

High Tove

A brief walk in the afternoon ...parking  at Watendlath the path from behind the carpark takes you straight up onto the fell and then onto the ridge between Thirlmere and Borrowdale and High Tove summit.

Looking up Borrowdale.

Zooming in to Eagle Crag.

High Tove summit.

Zooming in on some 'white stuff' on the Helvellyn range.

Some nice patches of sky!

Looking back down to Watendlath.

Norfolk: Colours and Textures book

I was determined to make a book, following our holiday in Norfolk. It mixes my gelli plate prints, photographs and field sketches with artwork by Norman Ackroyd and Debbie Lydon as sources of inspiration ...hopefully it should inspire more work and if not - it's a nice record of our visit. So here are a few sample pages.
