A typical winter's day and a very pleasant walk up Souther Fell from Mungrisedale. Following the road going to the left of the Mill Inn and taking the diagonal rather than vertical path, a steady path leads to the saddle where we walked to the left - to the far end, overlooking Clough Head and the Dodds, before walking the length of the ridge and to the summit. The path then descends directly above the Mill Inn, but there is no route through the intake fields, so you skirt the wall back to the road and then double back to the start. Super views of Blencathra in her wintery cloak - no sign of any ghostly armies today! Click here for information on the ghost army.
