Hutton Roof Crags and high brown fritillaries

A good explore of this reserve today....before this evening's rain set in. We parked up at the northern edge of the reserve on the roadside verge and followed various tracks to make a round walk. We went primarily for the helleborines - they'll form the next blog.

Across to Holmepark Fell and general views to the north west.

Limestone pavement with maidenhair spleenwort; hart's tongue fern and lily of the valley.

Harebells and burnet moths; common blue and carline thistles.

Grayling.

High brown fritillaries.

High brown fritillary.

Two high browns and a skipper ....plenty around
...just a shame these weren't quite in focus!
