Upper Teesdale splendour

Time for the annual pilgrimage to see the spring gentians ...walking from the Hanging Shaw carpark along past Widdy Bank farm and up to Cauldron Snout before returning along the Cow Green Road back down to Langdon Beck and Hanging Shaw. A fabulous sunny, but fresh, day. A fabulous show of gentians and bird's-eye primrose; golden plover, common sandpiper, red grouse, curlew and lots of displaying lapwings. Privileged to see what can only be described as a fluttering of lapwing as they chased off a  stoat that was legging it through the marsh marigolds (which are just starting to come out).
Skylark; common sandpiper; meadow pipit nest and lapwing
