Scafell Pike from Seathwaite.

With a good forecast promising low winds and no cloud cover, it had to be done! We were a bit late setting off, but arrived at Seathwaite at 9:40 ...and got one of the last parking spaces. Walking up to Styhead tarn was gentle,or we are getting fitter, and the autumnal colours lovely. From Styhead it was along the corridor route and then rather than going up Scafell Pike we took a detour for Lingmell and a sandwich on the top. Looking over towards Scafell Pike there was a continual conveyor belt of people heading for the summit. We joined them for a slog! The top was busy, but the views stunning and rather obviously - in all directions! Then down and up onto Broad Crag - a lovely bouldery top before heading for Great End. Then down to Esk Hause and back down via Grains Gill to rejoin our original track at Stockley Bridge. A superb route and there were no seriously steep bits except for the last bit onto Scafell Pike. The dog is now completely zonked!

Looking down Borrowdale; Styhead tarn and Piers Gill.

Over Piers Gill to Great End; Great Gable; looking back towards Pillar; Scafell and bottom right - that horrible scree we came down last week!

The tops - across to Great End - Rocky on Scafell Pike summit and the summit crowd.

Stockley Bridge; two Herdies about to bang heads and views back up Grains Gill.
