Wetheral to Armathwaite.

Today we decided to go to Wetheral and then walk along the river Eden to Armathwaite for lunch and then back along the other side of the river and across the viaduct at Wetheral. We then were going to to see the Yellow Star of Bethlehem below the viaduct. Well it was a slippery walk....damp and muddy underfoot to say the least. The Eden was relatively high and flowing quickly with spectacular standing waves. Sadly the path was seriously under water just before Armathwaite and the detour required would have added a good hour ....with uncertainty as to whether all the path would be above water on the return leg we decided to cut our losses and return hungry along the road to Wetheral. To add insult to injury the yellow star of Bethlehem wasn't yet in bloom! So a hard walk that would be much more pleasant in the summer!
