Round Anthorn Peninsular

A quick trip out yesterday to try and see some birds. The two new open hides at North Plains RSPB reserve are great and there were good numbers of lapwing and wigeon on the fields. At high tide there were lots of wigeon on the shore near Bowness on Solway and it was great to listen to them 'whistling'. On the way home we came across a good fields worth of barnacle geese next to the road which enabled us to use the car as a hide. Sadly the light was pretty poor and certainly had that winters day feel about it. Bring on the spring!
