Cumbria Wildlife Trust's Bowberhead farm

Yesterday I was lucky to have a guided tour of Bowberhead farm, near Ravenstonedale. Cumbria Wildlife Trust recently acquired the site, which includes some fabulous flower-rich hay meadows. Only 900 hectares of these upland hay meadows survive in northern England.

My visit was to see what the layout of the site was like and to begin to plan any arts-based events that will raise the profile of northern haymeadows and the benefits of traditional management.

Obviously the site looked rather wintery - but beautiful nonetheless, with the dramatic stone walls and traditional barns.

There are a variety of super barns!

In the summer this meadow will be stunning!

Inside ....

Lovely shapes and textures.

More texture.

I love the way you can see the frosty field through the wall.
