Mawbray Oystercatchers and Knot

Another glorious day and plenty of birds on the Solway coast. I would like to point out that it was most definately not me that put them up - a dog walker persisted in walking along the shore. At this time of year when it's cold and food less available the energy lost by the birds is significant. It did however provide for an absolute spectacle over the calm waters of the Solway.

Scotland looks so close and yet we are forbidden to visit.

Knot.

Bar-tailed godwits.

Oystercatchers and then lots more oystercatchers!

...and behind the coast road with curlew.
