A good day fossil hunting at Port Mulgrave. After a walk along the beach a quick walk north from the quay - we'd not done this bit previously, so it was great to see the seams of jet in the cliff and where people had mined it. After that a walk along the Cleveland way into Staithes for a crab sandwich and a brief exploration of the expansive wave cut platform. There are too many photographs for a single blog, so the fishermen's huts at Port Mulgrave, our fossil finds and Staithes will follow!

The Old Nab ..there is a set of four fixed ropes that take you from the beach up to the cliff top - I won't deny - bloody hard work! |
