Another glorious late summer's day! Parking at Wells-next-the-Sea, we walked along the coast and back through the woods of Holkham NNR. Highlights were the dune lichen heath, the Tiny Earthstar and a Marsh Harrier.
I have begun to start capitalising species names to avoid confusion - today I find the Tiny Earthstar validates this decision - yes it is tiny but it is also known as the Tiny Earthstar.
The 208 beach huts as you leave the carpark and walk west. |
Pine woodland behind the dunes. |
Rocky ended up on the lead for much of the walk! |
Lots of Wall Brown butterflies and a Small Copper - we also saw Speckled Wood, Large White and Peacock butterflies. |
The saltmarsh. |
Fabulous dune lichen heath. |
Carline Thistle. |
The fungi deserve a blog or two of their own - the Tiny Earthstar was the highlight. |
Common Darter and Common Centaury. |
