With snow on the fells it was nice to get some sunshine - the conditions underfoot were though lethal - melting snow and defrosting turf made it hard going!
Beautiful views though as always....it is a spectacular spot. The glacial 'U' - shaped valley with a meandering stream, cutting through the Whin Sill. (The Whin Sill is an intrusion of dolerite and is perhaps best known where it outcrops at High Force waterfall in Teesdale.)
