Birch bark inspired vase

Well we are nearly at the end of the Hesket show blogs. This week has been a back to work week so there hasn't been a lot to report - but here's looking forward to a decent walk out tomorrow and a return to some walking blogs.

One of the items that didn't win anything at Hesket Newmarket show was my hand-stitched article. This vase was made of felt - hand-dyed and then refelted prefelt, which was then cut to size and embroidered. We sometimes get rolls of birch bark washed up on the beach; these were the inspiration source. Fun to do and the blanket stitch reminded me of native North American stitchwork which links to the birch bark. Other dyed fabrics were added.
