Angletarn Pikes and Brock Crag

A great walk! We parked up in Patterdale and took the gentle path up to Boredale Hause before turning right along another very gentle path past Stony Rigg and under Angletarn Pikes. We then followed a less distinct track to our left back and then up the Pikes. A very lofty view! Then down to angle tarn, which is delightful, for a quick field sketch. The tarns' islands were beautiful - nice vegetation - in stark contrast to the over-grazed landscape around. Then following a very obvious path to the east of the tarn we came to Satura Crag with good views of Hayeswater and Gray Crag. Then the path took us past Prison Crag and onto Brock Crag. Our return route was via the western side of Angle Tarn before rejoining our outward path. A very gentle day with cracking views - definitely a walk to be repeated ...and it took Rocky onto 155 Wainwrights.

Looking over Brothers Water.

Rocky on the sledgate path (ponies pulled sleds usually for mining materials on it) up to Boredale Hause.

Looking across to Place fell.

Angle tarn.

Fom Angletarn Crags across Brothers Water and surrounding fells.

View over Gray Crags.

A threatening sky ...it stayed dry. Looking back over Angle tarn from Brock Crag.
