A day puppy sitting, so a couple of trips out including a walk round Talkin Tarn. We soon found out that Rowan really does like water and ducks! A nice selection of Jelly Ears fungus, but the highlight for me was seeing the pair of Great-crested Grebes. I can't recall having seen any for quite a few years and love their 'design potential'! Lots of Tufted Duck and a Goldeneye too.

Plenty of Tufted Ducks and in the far distance a pair of Great-crested Grebes. |

And finally ....every day is a school day.....the left hand Cormorant is a Continental subspecies: which nests in trees as opposed to the right-hand native Cormorant which is our traditional cormorant which nests on cliffs. Note the grey head on the left hand one - although this is not totally diagnostic as you should be looking at the shape of the gular pouch. |
