Jura coastal walk

Another good forecast .....so off to Jura for the day. Molly and Tom joined us for the first bit of the walk before going off to do the distillaries and beaches - we headed north along the coast, then inland past Loch a Chnuic Bhric and then down to the coast just beyond Rubha Aoineadh an Reithe before coming back the entire way along the coast.

Looking up the Sound of Jura.

Superb flushes with both species of Butterwort, Greater and the less common Pale, Lesser Clubmoss and Bog Beacon.

Argent and Sable Moth - not common! ..and a Tiger Moth caterpillar - plenty of those!

Red Grouse.

Lots of Heath-spotted Orchids on the way to the shore.

Plenty of shells including Cowries.

Superb dykes, Thrift and Shags.

Spectacular raised beaches.

More Thrift and Xanthoria lichen - I love the contrasting pink and orange.

Looking across the raised beach to the Paps of Jura.

Red Deer and the Calmac ferry.

A tired dog - collapsed in the ditch while waiting for the ferry.
