Extreme birding!

A day on the Black Isle - working on the principle that it doesn't get much snow and the roads should be relatively clear!

Our first stop was at Tain, where the forecast was for sunshine. As we arrived the sun shone, as we opened the transit doors an indigo wall approached and then the blizzard hit - enough of a blizzard to make  the Scottish News ...extreme birding indeed! Not a lot to report as we couldn't see much but a great experience.

Then onto Nigg RSPB reserve, a supern flypast by a Barn Owl and welcome tea and shortbread out of the back of the transit - our usual morning refreshment.

Tain...sunshine.

The start of the blizzard.

...and then it cleared...

Grey Heron.
