This will be the first of many posts on what has been the most amazing trip....with Polar Bears, Walrus and pack ice among the highlights - so stay with me as we travel to just beyond 78 degrees North. But to start with, a night in Aberdeen. I knew it was named the 'Grey City', but even in the summer it is grey! Some superb architecture based on merchants and shipping ...some rather dodgy areas too by the docks at night! Would I go back for a weekend? Yes - and the Art Museum, which is free, was fabulous and the Maritime Museum informative. Our expedition ship left the following morning.
